Śrī Nityānanda-caritāmṛta is an authentic Vaiṣṇava literature compiled from the writings of Vedavyāsa Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura. This book describes the transcendental glories of Lord Nityānanda. The topics include the birth of Lord Nityānanda, His childhood pastimes, His leaving home, His travelling to holy places, His arrival at Navadvīpa and meeting with Lord Caitanya, His preaching of the chanting of the holy names of the Lord by the order of Lord Gaurāṅga, His pastimes with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu at Nadia, His presence at the Lord’s pastime of accepting sannyāsa, His accompanying the Lord to Nīlācala, His return to Navadvīpa by the order of the Lord, His marriage, His distribution of love of God, and His disappearance from this world, are elaborately and properly described in this book. Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura is forever remembered in the communities of Vaiṣṇavas for his wonderful literary work, Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata. The glories of Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata were nicely described by Śrīla Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī in his book Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta as follows:

manuṣye racite nāre aiche grantha dhanya
vṛndāvana-dāsa-mukhe vaktā śrī-caitanya

“No human being can compose such a book. Actually, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu speaks through the mouth of Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura.”

Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata is a biography of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu written in the Bengali language that was compiled before Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta. Following in the footsteps of the statements of Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, other books, such as Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, were compiled. Śrī Nityānanda-caritāmṛta has been compiled from the accounts of Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata,therefore, Śrī Nityānanda-caritāmṛta is very similar to Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata. It is hoped that this book narrating the pastimes of Lord Nityānanda will serve as a great inspiration for the Vaiṣṇavas worldwide.
