Grains of Devotion is an anthology of spiritually inspired poems, short stories, songs, essays, and novel excerpts, with contributions from a loosely knit group, calling themselves the Humble Servants of the Servants of The Ocean of Truth. This is a very eclectic and organic collection, in terms of writing styles, with personal backgrounds are as diverse as individual grains of sand, yet the connecting thread of spiritual aspiration and devotion is strong. Readers who enjoy identification with the hearts and souls of fellow sevadars of the Divine and/or seekers after Truth will enjoy the variety herein. We think that upon returning to their day-to-day lives, they will likely find that at least a few grains have found a way home with them, via their pockets, shoes, etc., and from there, into their hearts. ~ ~ ~ One of the main themes of this volume is the promotion of tolerance and acceptance of different faiths, and giving respect to different practitioners of spirituality and the individual choice of faith in God. The most unsettling contradiction of the universal goal of religion is the infighting amongst different factions of the same faith. The common goal of all religions is to love God. Hatred and violence toward other faiths does not reflect love of God and is total hypocrisy. There are numerous examples: the Sunnis and Shiites—same religion, and killing each other over details. Then there's the Catholic and Protestant conflict in Ireland—same God, same Savior—killing and hatred. We understand that many Muslims believe in Jesus, many Hindus believe in Jesus; still there are holy wars with Christians and Hindus. Collection contains Sherlock Holmes story.
