DanaKeli Cintamani

In thisDana Keli Cintamani, Sri raghunatha Dasa Goswami describes the pastime of Krsna obstructing the gopis, headed by Srimati Radharani, as they took milk products to offer to the brahmanas performing a sacrifice. Desiring the enjoy conjugal pastimes, Krsna employed the pretext of demanding payment of a toll, claiming to be the proprietor of the sorrounding forest and hills.

 

Translated by Kusakratha Prabhu, whose name is a guarantee of transcendental pleasure.

The Dana Keli Cintamani has been written around 1550, a beautiful and nectarean poetry describing the Dana lila, which takes place at a lake at he base of Govardhana Giri and later Govinda Kund. It is a description of a pastime with Radha and Krishna with their friends like Madhumangala, and other coherd boys, and the gopis, when Krishna plays his rasika naughtiness, and Radha piercing Shyamasundara with the arrows of her glances, feigning anger, ant then Nandimukhi appears, who pacifies both parties with different consoling words.

 

Raghunatha dasa Gosvami acknowledges that this book is the fruit of Rupa Gosvami's mercy (see verses 174 and 175). It was composed shortly after Rupa Gosvami had composed his Dana Keli Kaumudi.

 

As stated in Bhakti Ratnakara:

 

"Raghunatha dasa Gosvami, who was the friend of both Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami, has written three books -- Stavamala, which is now called Stavavali, Sri Dana Carita (Dana Keli Cintamani) and Mukta Carita. When one hears these sweet books even the greatest suffering goes far away."
