Canto 3.2 Srimad Bhagavatam at a Glance

In the second half of this canto Lord Kapila appears and speaks Sankhya philosophy, which is a combination of devotional service and astanga yoga. His mother Devahuti hears from her son and becomes self-realized. Her heart becomes cleansed of all illusion and fear as she concludes that the chanting of Hare Krishna mahamantra is the essence of all Kapiladeva’s instructions.

Devahuti follows her husband, performing extreme sacrifices to her health, but later is rewarded with great spiritual blessings. She gives birth to nine daughters as well as a son Kapiladeva, who is the incarnation of the Lord. Although at the end her husband and son both leave her, she nevertheless continues on her spiritual path with great determination, following her son’s instructions, to achieve the highest goal of going to the spiritual world.

Canto 3.2 contains a pictorial overview (a picture for every verse) with a written overview at the end of each chapter.
