In this Canto we hear again of the creation in more detail, as well as a summary of Lord Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavana and Dvaraka. Lord Varaha makes His appearance from the nostril of Lord Brahma to uplift the earth from the mud at the bottom of the universal ocean.

Appearing like five year old boys, the Four Kumaras make an extraordinary journey through spiritual space and cross over six doorways—only to be rejected at the seventh door. Out of anger, they curse the doorkeepers to take three births as demons in this material world. Thus Lord Varaha appears to kill Hiranyaksa, the twin demon brother of Hiranyakasipu. As they fight in the lowest parts of the universe, sages from the highest planets glorify the Lord in the form of a hog. In this canto the creation of Brahma is given in great detail from demons to gods, from snakes to angelic singers and dancers. We follow his moodswings during the creation and find out what types of beings take birth from his mentality in goodness, passion or ignorance.

Canto 3.1 contains a pictorial overview (a picture for every verse) with a written overview at the end of each chapter.
