Windows to the spiritual world. Ten original paintings by Vishnu Das. Each plate is 11″ by 17″, ideal for framing or laminating.

Born in Berkeley, California, in 1950, Vishnudas grew up surrounded by the large artist community there. He was always fascinated with that lies beyond this tangible material world and wanted to express this through his artwork from an early age. After studying art at Reed College in oregon and also learning art techniques from private tutors, Vishnudas found plenty of commission work to engage his skills, though he began to feel his talent was not being engaged in it's fullest potential. He read many books in search of transcendental knowledge, but it was in 1970 that he finally found complete satisfaction with the answers found in the books of His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Vishnudas joined the movement in 1970 in Portland, Oregon and became a disciple of Srila Prabhupada in Los Angeles in 1971. In 1972, his Godbrother Mukunda Goswami, encouraged him to go to New York to use his artistic skills in helping with the illustrations of Srila Prabhupada's books.

In 1975, Vishnudas traveled to India and became further inspired in his work by meeting many painters and sculptors - such as the Pink City Palace's personal mural artist in Jaipur. He returned to America to paint murals on the walls of various Iskcon temples including the radha Govinda temple in manhattan , New York; Prabhupada's palace in New Vrindavan, West Virginia; Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver temples in Canada. Srila Prabhupada was very pleased with his mural work and told him to return to India and paint there, which he did in 1977.

Vishnudas now resides in Vancouver, Canada and continues to paint Krishna-lila to this day. all of his paintings have been inspired by the wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita, Krsna Book, Caitanya caritamrta, Nectar of Devotion, Srimad Bhagavatam and other books of Srila Prabhupada. He also helped to illustrate some of these books. Vishnudas paints with a hope that his art willinspire others to read these books and experience the spiritual joy and satisfaction he found in them. The knowledge of the true self within us ll and our purpose in life is found within these divine verses and purports. His website is: www.krishnaland.com
